In the first half of the year, Türkiye generated revenue of 500 million 781 thousand dollars from exports of chocolate and cocoa products; the sector’s high-quality production, its raw material infrastructure—such as Antep pistachios—and its trade fair-focused initiatives were key factors in this success.

According to information compiled by an Anatolian Agency (AA) correspondent from data provided by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM), the cereals, pulses, oilseeds and processed products sector sold 5,290,036 tonnes of goods to 212 countries and free zones between January and June.
Turkish grain exporters generated revenue of 5 billion 847 million 514 thousand dollars from these exports, with sunflower seeds being the top export at 663 million 938 thousand dollars. This was followed by chocolate and cocoa products at 500 million 781 thousand dollars.
Mehmet Yıldırım, Chair of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce’s Baklava, Pastry and Confectionery Products Professional Committee, stated that these exports were a testament to the producers’ success, noting that they had achieved a high standard of quality and that these figures were a direct result of that quality.
Explaining that the sector is performing particularly well in confectionery and cocoa-based products, Yıldırım said, “Producers first source cocoa of excellent quality, process it and turn it into chocolate and confectionery. As a result, they are achieving strong sales through this excellent work. There is a well-organised effort.”
“In particular, Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (İHBİR) is doing a very good job. It brings all the producers together and takes them to trade fairs all over the world. Consequently, that is where the success comes from,” he added…
