Value of hazelnut exports continues to rise; Trabzon leads the way with 563 million dollars

Whilst hazelnut exports totalling 160,000 tonnes generated foreign exchange earnings of 1 billion 334 million 535 thousand dollars during the January–July period of 2025, hazelnut exports from Türkiye totalling 123,000 tonnes generated foreign exchange earnings of 1 billion 620 million 7 thousand dollars during the January–July period of 2026. When compared with the same period of the previous year, these export figures show a 23 percent decrease in volume, on the other hand, there was a 21 percent spike in value.

In the first seven months of the year, exports were made to 109 different countries, with the top five export destinations being, in order, Germany, Italy, France, Poland and the People’s Republic of China.

In the first eleven months of the hazelnut export season, which began in September, hazelnut exports totalling 186,617 tonnes generated foreign exchange earnings of 2 billion 401 million dollars. Compared with the same period of the previous year, exports saw a 37 per cent decrease in volume and a 1 per cent decrease in value.

Looking specifically at hazelnut exports from the province of Trabzon, in the first seven months of 2025, exports of 48,880 tonnes of hazelnuts generated foreign exchange earnings of 429 million 934 thousand dollars; whereas in the first seven months of 2026, hazelnut exports from Trabzon totalling 35,803 tonnes generated foreign exchange earnings of 563 million 177 thousand dollars.

Compared with the same period of the previous year, a 27 per cent decrease in export volume was recorded, whilst there was a 31 percent increase in value. During the January–July period, 34.76 percent of the hazelnut exports from the country were carried out from Trabzon province, which ranks first in hazelnut exports.

In the first eleven months of the hazelnut export season, exports from Trabzon region totalled 43,971 tonnes, worth 661 million 980 thousand dollars; this represented a 49 percent decrease in volume and a 13 percent decrease in value compared to the same period of the previous season…
