“Türkiye’s fishery exports soar by 14 percent to reach 1.1 billion dollars”

Press release…

July 2026…

The Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters Association ramped up its exports by 16 percent in the first six months of 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 949 million dollar.

The Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters Association, which alone accounts for half of Türkiye’s seafood and animal products exports, continued to be the driving force of the sector in exports.

Ufuk Atakan Demir, Chair of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters Association, announced that the Turkish seafood and animal products sector reached 4.04 billion dollars in exports in 2025, stating, “Our association achieved 1.84 billion dollars in exports, accounting for approximately 45.5 percent of Türkiye’s total exports. Looking at the first six months of 2026, we see that this strong performance continues. While our sector achieved 1.904 billion dollars in exports nationwide, our association reached 949 million dollars in exports, a 16 percent spike. Thus, half of our country’s sector exports were again realized by the Aegean Exporters Associations.”

He added that the Aegean Exporters Associations accounted for half of the sector’s total exports. The country’s seafood exports continued their upward trend.

Pointing out that Türkiye’s seafood exports soared by 14 percent to reach 1.11 billion dollars, partly due to the spike in export unit prices, he added, “Our egg sector achieved 287 million dollars in exports, a 70 percent spike, thanks to the increase in quotas and the lifting of export restrictions caused by bird flu. In contrast, poultry meat exports decreased by 41 percent to 200 million dollars due to the restrictions and milk and dairy product exports fell by 19 percent to 153 million dollars because our ability to compete with world prices decreased due to rising costs. Our honey exports also decreased by 5 percent to 15 million dollars.”
