Blueberries, produced in Istanbul, exported to more than 20 countries!

Istanbul’s blueberry yield, which is exported to more than 20 countries, is above average this year…

Istanbul Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Suat Parıldar stated that Türkiye harvests more than 6,000 tonnes of blueberries annually, adding, “All of the blueberries produced in the country are exported to more than 20 countries.”

Istanbul, one of the world’s largest metropolises, produces blueberries for both domestic and international markets. Thanks to the favourable soil conditions and the growth of blueberry bushes planted 10-15 years ago, yields have soared significantly compared to previous years.

Istanbul Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Suat Parıldar noted that the province produces a wide variety of crops, from field crops to fruit and vegetable production and medicinal and aromatic plants. He also added that blueberries are also a medicinal and aromatic plant and that their market share is steadily growing due to public interest.

“Our Istanbul is the most beautiful city in the world. It’s a major metropolis, primarily known for its population and its status as a metropolitan city. If we consider the agricultural aspect, it’s actually a very valuable agricultural city. Agricultural lands constitute 15.8 percent of Istanbul’s geographical area. We have 869,000 decares of agricultural land. Our farm owns approximately 55 decares of land and we harvest 45-50 tonnes of produce annually. The garden we’re in contains 15-year-old blueberry bushes, along with newly planted 3-5-year-old various crops,” he said…
