Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Professor Dr. Vahit Kirişci said, “As of the point we have reached, we can now store 180 billion cubic metres of water. 47 billion cubic metres of this amount has been provided by 654 dams that built in our political term.”
Minister Kirişci stated that 47 billion cubic meters of the stored 180 billion cubic metres of water was produced during the AK Party period.
“About 25 percent of what has been done throughout the history of the republic until this time was carried out only between 2002-2022 during our government, in this period due to the value our president gave to this issue. As of the point we have reached, we see that we can store 180 billion cubic metres of water.”

Emphasizing Türkiye’s experience with water, Minister Kirişci noted that when the Silvan and Yusufeli Dams start to hold water, a structure that will emerge as a wonder of the world will emerge and added, “Türkiye is a country that sets an example to the world in terms of these dams.”
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Kirişci also emphasized the importance of storing water in place and expressed that lessons should be learned from past floods.
