Dried fruit sector exceeded 1.5 billion dollars for the first time

Super foods with high nutritional value, of which Turkiye is the world leader in production and export; Seedless raisins, dried apricots and dried figs exceeded 1 billion dollars in 2021.

Explaining that the exports of dried fruits and products in Turkiye surpassed 1.5 billion dollars for the first time in 2021 with an acceleration of 12 percent, Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association Chair Birol Celep said that dried figs, dried apricots and raisins make up the lion’s share of 1 billion 39 million dollars of dried fruit exports with 1 billion 574 million dollars.

Celep said, “We export to 162 different countries around the world. Our raisin export, of which 95 percent is realized from our region, reached 427 million dollars in 2021. With a share of 81 percent, we exported 349 million dollars to our main trade partner European countries. We export 115 million dollars to the United Kingdom, 61 million dollars to Germany and 40 million dollars to the Netherlands. Our 2022 target in our raisin exports reaching 101 countries is 500 million dollars.”

Pointing out that dried apricot exports have increased by 31 percent and reached 348 million dollars, Celep announced that their 2022 target is 450 million dollars and that dried apricots are sent to 121 countries.

“We have improved our exports to American countries by 29 percent in dried apricots. We exported 55 million dollars to our traditional market, the USA, with an increase of 45 percent. While increasing our exports to European countries by 29 percent, France with 32 million dollars and Germany with 30 million dollars are in the first places,” Celep added.

“Our dried apricot exports to Asian and Oceania countries soared by 39 percent. In particular, we ramped up our exports to China, which ranks first in our dried apricot exports, by 106 percent. We want to reach an export of 450 million dollars in 2022,” Celep concluded…
