Veysel Memiş: We aim to increase our share in sector exports from 17 to over 30 percent

Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), which supports Türkiye’s exports of cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products worth 12.4 billion dollars in 2023 with a value of 2.1 billion dollars, awarded 27 members who gave the strongest support to this performance.

Delivering the opening speech of the ceremony, Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AHBİB, said that on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, they provided 17 percent support to the sector’s exports and that they aim to enhance this rate to over 30 percent.

Referring to the activities carried out by AHBİB in 2023, Veysel Memiş said, “We participated in prestigious fairs in Germany, USA, Dubai, Singapore, Russia, organised a buyer delegation from Ethiopia in the same period and organised a sectoral trade delegation to Salerno, Italy.”

Stating that they focus on promotional activities as well as activities aimed at seeking new markets and raising market diversity, Memiş explained, “We have implemented the Bulgur Promotion Project and in this study, we are trying to improve the image of this product, which is known as bulgur all over the world and has an important place in our sector, by promoting it in Russia and also trying to ensure sustainability in the market.”

Noting that they also carried out the Harvest Road activity simultaneously within the scope of the project, Memiş added, “We hosted the gastronomy, social media phenomenon and media members of Russia in Mardin, the main production centre of bulgur and made promotions with interactive experiences.”
