The poultry industry broke a record in exports.
Bedri Girit, Chairperson of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, said that poultry industry, which brought in 347 million dollars of foreign currency to the country in the January-May period of 2020, increased its exports to 440 million 778 thousand dollars with a rise of 27 percent in the first five months of 2021.
Girit said, “The egg industry increased its export in breeding eggs from 93 million dollars to 151.4 million dollars with a rise of 63 percent, especially with the demand from Russia, Iraq and the Turkic Republics. Turkey’s egg exports to Russia soared 14 times.”

While Turkey gained 50 million dollars in foreign currency income from the poultry industry in May 2020, it reached an export figure of 100 million 305 thousand dollars with an increase of 101 percent in May 2021.
Pointing out that healthy food consumption has become a rising value during the pandemic process, Bedri Girit stated that there is an increase in demand for poultry meat from all over the world.
Explaining that Turkey is among the top 10 countries in the world in poultry meat production and second in the world in egg production, Girit added, “As the poultry industry, we have had years of exporting over 1 billion dollars. We want to continue this performance in 2021 and add the year 2021 to the years in which we exceeded 1 billion dollars in exports and bring in over 1 billion dollars of foreign currency to our country.”
