NEPTÜN SOYER: SMALL PRODUCER’S OLIVE OIL WILL BE BRANDED

Press release…

İzmir Union of Village Development Cooperatives (KÖYKOOP İzmir) sets out to produce a new olive oil brand together with its partners.

KÖYKOOP İzmir Chairwoman Neptün Soyer said that they are on their way to ensure that producers sell olive oil at its value, not in bulk, but by branding.”

Indicating that they have decided to produce and market the olive oil produced by 20 agricultural development cooperatives under the roof of KÖYKOOP, Neptün Soyer said, “We are on our way to ensure that the olive oil of the producers is sold at its value, not in bulk.”

Pointing out that olive oil production has become a production and culinary culture in these lands for centuries, Soyer explained, “Izmir has an important production volume with its climate and olive groves. However, the difficulties/crises seen in both production and sales/marketing processes in the face of increasing competition and threatening sustainability restrict İzmir and our producers from getting the share they deserve.”

“We consider it necessary to ensure fair and sustainable production and most importantly, to prevent poverty and to turn the small producer into an exporter for this. As İzmir Union of KÖYKOOP, the state of the national and international market requires us to act together in terms of efficiency and marketing at all stages from production to the final consumer,” Soyer added…
