Mehmet Ali Işık: We aim to build a lasting gastronomic bridge in the USA

Press release…

The Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EİB) organized a Gala Dinner in Dallas as part of the TURQUALITY Project, titled “Turkish Tastes,” which enhanced Turkish food product exports to the United States from 750 million dollars to 1.73 billion dollars in five years.

Mehmet Ali Işık, the Sustainability and Organic Products Coordinator of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations and Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Association, expressed his great pleasure in bringing together distinguished representatives of the food sector with Turkish flavours. He stated that the United States is gaining increasing strategic importance in Türkiye’s agricultural and food product exports, which have reached 35 billion dollars and that their new target for food exports to the USA is 5 billion dollars.

Pointing out that Türkiye is one of the leading countries in the world in dried fruit production and export, he explained, “We have a strong position in the US market with figs, apricots, grapes and other traditional products. We aim to establish a long-term business relationship in the US market, not only in terms of volume but also based on sustainability, food safety, traceability and high quality standards. To this end, we have implemented the Turkish Tastes TURQUALITY Project. Within the scope of the Turkish Tastes Project, we had the opportunity to introduce our production facilities, agricultural infrastructure and thousands of years of gastronomic culture to valuable chefs visiting our country. The positive feedback we received from them showed that we are on the right track and further strengthened our belief in the project.”

“Similarly, the opinions, expectations and suggestions of our valued guests are extremely valuable to us. Your feedback will guide us in becoming stronger and more permanent in the US market. At the fairs we participate in in different regions of the US, we work with both American and Turkish chefs to offer visitors special tasting menus consisting of Turkish products. Our goal is not only to promote products but also to build a lasting gastronomic bridge by bringing Turkish flavours together with American palates,” he said.

“On this occasion, I would like to invite you to the tasting event we will be holding at our Türkiye Stand at the Fancy Food Fair in New York at the end of June and to visit our participating companies in this event. Similarly, our exporters from Türkiye will also be present at the Expo West Fair in Anaheim next week. Your visits to our stands will make a significant contribution to the further development of food trade between our two countries,” he added…
