“Hazelnut should not be used as a tool for politics”
While the Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters’ Association (KFMİB) announced the hazelnut forecast yield of 2020 as 670 thousand tons, Mehmet Cirav, Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Products Sector Committee Chairman, said that hazelnut should not be used in politics.
Mehmet Cirav, in his statement, explained as follows:
“Every year, hazelnut harvest is carried out in provincial and district gardens by a delegation composed of agricultural chambers, commodity exchanges, representatives of authorized exporters’ associations, chambers of commerce and industry, stakeholders of the hazelnut sector under the presidency of the relevant provincial directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The census result is determined by this commission within a scientific working method and declared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.”
Cirav noted, “This year’s yield determination work has been completed in this procedure and announced to the public by our Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli.”
“However, the fact that different political groups criticize this situation in order to create a political agenda that upsets us all as sector representatives. We are with our minister and we are grateful to them for their valuable contribution to hazelnut,” Cirav added..
