Turkish exporters, who export fresh fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products to 170 countries around the world, ramped up their exports from 1 billion 891 million dollars to 2 billion 82 million dollars with a hike of 10 percent in the January – April period of 2024.
In the first four months of 2024, Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports were 1 billion 174 million dollars, while exports of fruit and vegetable products surged by 27 percent from 717 million to 908 million dollars.
Stating that Türkiye produces 59 million tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables, Hayrettin Uçak, Vice Chairman of the Aegean Exporters‘ Associations and President of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, said that 11-12 percent of this production is exported as fresh fruit and vegetables and this rate reaches 25 percent with the addition of product exports.
“Our 2024 target is 6.5 billion dollars export!”
Indicating that they have shown that they are the world’s supplier of fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products,” Uçak said, “We are at the top of the list of the world’s largest producers of cherry, quince, fig, apricot, melon, watermelon, chestnut, sour cherry, cucumber, apple, tomato, aubergine, spinach and pepper. We are the world’s first in pickle exports in finished products. We are also strong producers of tomato paste, dried tomatoes, fruit juices, canned and frozen fruits.”
“At the end of 2023, our exports of fresh fruit and vegetables and fruit and vegetable products reached 5 billion 908 million dollars. Despite the wars in our nearby geographies and the recession in the global economy, we are making efforts to bring 6.5 billion dollars of foreign currency to Türkiye at the end of 2024,” Uçak added…
