Türkiye’s seafood exports reached 1,110,366,000 dollars in the first six months of the year, a 14 percent spike, exceeding the 1 billion dollars mark for the first time in the January-June period and achieving the highest first-half export revenue in the history of the Republic.
According to data compiled from the Turkish Exporters’ Council (TİM), Türkiye exported 128,357 tonnes of fisheries to 88 countries in the first half of this year.

Exports in the January-June period soared by 14 percent compared to the same period last year, rising from 972,947,000 to 1,110,366,000 dollars.
Thus, seafood exports exceeded the 1 billion dollars mark for the first time in the first half of the year, reaching the highest export revenue for this period in the history of the Republic.
The sector generated the most revenue from sea bass, with 389,133,000 dollars. This was followed by sea bream with 295,798,000 dollars and Turkish salmon with 201,849,000 dollars. These three products accounted for approximately 80 percent of total exports.
The largest export market was Russia with 165,397,000 dollars. Russia was followed by Italy with 150,385,000 dollars and the Netherlands with 129,829,000 dollars.

Ufuk Atakan Demir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Seafood and Animal Products Exporters Association, told an Anatolian Agency AA) reporter that the sector had a successful export period.
Demir stated that the demand for Turkish seafood products remains strong and this is reflected in the export figures, adding that two-thirds of the sector’s exports are handled by their Association.
Pointing out that the sector aims to position itself globally not only as a high-quality product but also as a reliable, sustainable and strong brand, he noted, “As a country, we are reaping the rewards of the promotional and marketing efforts we have undertaken in other countries. We will continue these activities. In particular, the fish dishes we prepare with renowned chefs in the countries we visit are very popular. We are constantly receiving positive feedback that increases our exports. This is reflected in the export figures. We achieved the highest export revenue in the first half of the year in the history of the Republic.”
