Aegean exporters accelerated their efforts towards Latin American countries in line with the Far Countries Strategy.

Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica Gustavo Campos Fallas visited the Aegean Exporters’ Associations and exchanged views on possible cooperation between our country and the Republic of Costa Rica in the coming period.

Gustavo Campos Fallas, Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica, stated that the trade volume between the two countries constitutes an important potential, especially if solutions that facilitate logistics are produced in the trade of the two countries, 60 percent of the exports of the Republic of Costa Rica are technological products, and they attach importance to exports with high added value.

Aegean Exporters’ Associations Deputy Coordinator and Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters’ Association Chair of the Board Hayrettin Uçak, announced that in the January-November period of 2022, Türkiye realized 20 billion dollars of exports to American countries.

“Latin American countries are among the priority markets in the Far Countries Strategy, which our Ministry has put into practice to grow our export range. At this point, our honorary consuls undertake an important mission for the development of economic, commercial, social and cultural relations between the country they serve and Turkey. Emre Kızılgüneşler, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the İzmir Chamber of Commerce, has added a new ring to the relations between Costa Rica and Türkiye, as the Honorary Consul of Costa Rica in İzmir. With his exporter identity, dynamic and innovative perspective, he works hard to increase foreign trade between the two countries during his honorary consulate duty. Currently, our exports with Costa Rica are mainly industrial products. We believe that our food products, which we are a strong player in the world, will gain a good momentum and our trade volume will increase with the development of air cargo capacity both through diplomatic contacts and to distant destinations. We aim to export 200 million dollars to Costa Rica in the short term,” Uçak said.

Aegean Exporters’ Associations Deputy Coordinator and Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association Chair Hayrettin Uçak, Costa Rica Republic Honorary Consul and İzmir Chamber of Commerce Vice Chair Emre Kızılgüneşler and Aegean Exporters’ Associations Secretary General Cumhur İşbırakmaz attended the meeting.
