Davut Er, Chairperson of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB), stated that their packaged olive oil exports amounted to 107 million dollars.
“We sent 53 percent of our total olive oil exports with packaging. The total exports of our sector soared by 399 percent to 399 million dollars. This season, our olive oil sector reached the highest figures in history and we left behind a successful season. We foresee an olive harvest of 730 thousand tonnes and an olive oil yield of 420 thousand tonnes in the upcoming 2022/23 season,” Er said.
“We are faced with a table that was first encountered for the first time in Türkiye. With these figures, Türkiye will rise to the first place in table olive and to the second place in olive oil across the world,” Er added.
David Er emphasized that they look at the export target of 500 million dollars in the period of 2022/23 and also reminded that Türkiye’s presence of 90 million trees escalated to about 190 million after 2002.
“At that time, our planted olive trees have gone into yield. We have a target of 650 thousand tonnes in table olives and 1 million 200 thousand tonnes in olive oil in new season. The EU needs Turkish olive oil, so it has to focus on alternative markets. On December 14, we will have an olive and olive oil sector workshop in İzmir and with a prize ceremony of 2021. We will celebrate our success with all the stakeholders of the sector,” Er concluded…
