Celal Kadooğlu, a member of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Board of Directors and President of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that the export performance of the sector should not be evaluated solely based on total export figures.
Highlighting that regional conflicts have led to shifts in the demand structures, consumption preferences and foreign trade conditions of various countries, Kadooğlu said, “Particularly in vulnerable economies, purchasing power and access to foreign currency are the decisive factors in import choices.”
Drawing attention to the changing demand in African nations, Kadooğlu noted, “In some African countries, the weakening of foreign currency liquidity has driven a stronger focus on staple food items like flour and vegetable oil, while purchasing has become more cautious regarding higher value-added and packaged products. Therefore, our export strategy must look beyond mere trade volume and focus on the nature of the demand that constitutes that volume.”
“Our region, which excels at rapidly interpreting shifts in markets characterized by diverse income groups, consumption habits and economic conditions, adapts its product offerings and export strategies to suit these specific circumstances,” he added…
