Whilst Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports rose by 42 percent to 3.17 billion dollars between January and September, the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association ramped up its exports by 55 percent over the same period, exceeding 1.38 billion dollars. Accounting for approximately 44 percent of the national sector’s exports, the Association made a significant contribution to the sector’s growth through the increases it recorded in many product groups, particularly tangerines and peaches.
Bülent Sarıkaya, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, assessed the sector’s export performance as at the end of the third quarter of 2026. Sarıkaya stated that they continue to reap the benefits of their efforts to expand production capacity into international markets, boost product diversity and develop commercial relationships. Noting that the Association’s exports, which stood at 894.2 million dollars in the same period last year, had risen to over 1.38 billion dollars, Sarıkaya revealed that they had converted a total of 1.2 million tonnes of produce into value on global markets over the nine-month period.

Emphasising that citrus and stone fruits played a decisive role in the Association’s export growth during the first nine months of the year, Sarıkaya said, “Citrus exports had reached 642.5 million dollars, representing a 72 percent spike. Meanwhile, tangerines, with an 86 percent spike and an export value of 357.9 million dollars, accounted for approximately 26 percent of the Association’s exports.”
Pointing out that a strong performance in peach exports, he explained, “This product group had reached 221.1 million dollars in exports, representing a 132 percent spike by volume and a 144 percent spike by value. On the other hand, lemon exports totalled 171.1 million dollars, apricot exports 78.2 million dollars and orange exports 67 million dollars, in addition, cherry and sour cherry exports had risen to 33.4 million, a 584 percent spike.”
“This success across product groups was achieved as a result of correctly assessing demand in different markets alongside existing ones. Exports to the Russian Federation rose by 47 percent to reach 463.4 million dollars. In addition to increased commercial activity in neighbouring markets, the development of relations in European markets also made significant contributions to our export performance,” he added…
