Providing information about beekeeping and honey production in Adıyaman province, Tuncer noted, “We received 631 tonnes of honey from 63,450 hives across the province in 2020. This year’s data studies are still ongoing, but we expect an increase of 15 percent this year compared to last year.”

There are 35 thousand bee hives in the district…

Şincik Agriculture and Forestry Director Özgür Akar also stated that the most important source of income in the district is beekeeping.

Pointing out that they started the honey harvest in Arıkonak village this year, Akar continued as follows:

“Due to the lack of agricultural land in the district, citizens make a living from honey-breeding. Bovine and ovine breeding, as well as beekeeping activities are carried out here. We have 35 thousand bee hives registered with our District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. Our beekeepers expect an increase in the yield this season compared to last year. We continue with our projects.”

Indicating that the geven flower is intense in terms of plant flora in the region, Akar added, “We received a trademark registration certificate under the name ‘Şincik Geven Honey’ for geven honey produced across the district in 2016.”
