Sharing the information that Turkish salmon and tuna export with an amount of 87 million dollars took the first place in the export of food products of 291 million dollars in 2022 in Japan, Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Chairperson Bedri Girit said that they organized a sushi event with Turkish tuna and salmon at the Foodex Japan Fair, in order for the people to consume more Turkish salmon and tuna.
“Turkish salmon, which the Turkish aquaculture industry has offered to the world’s tables in recent years with its R&D studies, has gained great interest and appreciation in Japan as well as all over the world. Our Turkish salmon export to Japan was 4.2 million dollars in 2021. But it achieved a record 626 percent increase and reached 30.5 million dollars. Japan alone had a 9 percent share of the total 345 million dollar Turkish salmon export we realized in 2022,” he said.
“We aim for an asymmetrical growth in Turkish salmon exports to Japan. Our target is to export 100 million dollars worth of Turkish salmon to Japan in the short term,” he concluded…
