October, 2026…

The InterSupply 2026 Fair, one of the world’s most important global gatherings for the tobacco and tobacco products sector and the heart of the industry, took place in Dortmund, Germany, from 15 to 17 September 2026.

The Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association (ETİB), the umbrella organisation for tobacco and tobacco product exporters in the country, took its place at the InterSupply 2026 Fair, showcasing the strength of the Turkish tobacco sector.

Describing their participation in the Inter Supply 2026 Fair as a concrete indication of the Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association’s determination to strengthen its visibility and network within the international tobacco sector, Chair of ETİB Selim Jimi said, “As the Association, we will continue to play an active role in such international platforms in the coming years. Türkiye’s exports of tobacco and tobacco products soared by 8 percent over the past year, rising from 1.031 billion to 1.110 billion dollars. We will ramp up our presence on international platforms to achieve our medium-term export target of 1.5 billion dollars.”

Providing a breakdown of the tobacco and tobacco products sector’s export performance for the January–August 2026 period, Selim Jimi explained, “Our leaf tobacco exports rose from 198 million to 279 million dollars, marking a 41 percent spike. We generated 361 million dollars in foreign currency revenue for the country through cigarette exports, a 4 percent increase. We realized exports worth 58 million dollars in hookah tobacco and 43 million dollars in cigarette tobacco. We anticipate a tobacco production volume of 110,000 tonnes across the country in 2026. We also believe our exports will reach the 1.25 billion dollars level in 2027.”

Noting that Belgium ranked first in leaf tobacco exports with a demand of 58 million dollars, Jimi added: “We exported leaf tobacco worth 52.5 million dollars to the US and 15 million dollars to Indonesia. The top three countries for cigarette exports were the US with 54 million dollars, Syria with 53 million dollars and Iraq with 49 million dollars.”
