Teck Wah Koh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asia Pacific Seed Association (APSA), stated that Türkiye has significant potential in the seed industry due to its strategic location between Asia and Europe, describing the sector’s development as “exciting.”

Koh arrived in Antalya as part of preparations for the “International Asian Seed Congress” (ASC 2026), organized by APSA in cooperation with the Turkish Seed Growers Association (TÜRKTOB) and the Turkish Seed Industry Association (TÜRKTED), under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, to be held in Antalya from December 1-5.
Speaking to an Anatolian Agency (AA) reporter about the congress, Koh said that significant progress has been made in the preparations for the organization.
Noting the high level of interest in the congress, Koh stated that approximately 1000 delegates have registered so far and they expect around 2000 participants to be in Antalya.
Koh stated that ASC 2026 will be one of the largest congresses APSA has ever organized, emphasizing his excitement about the event.
Explaining that three technical sessions will be held at the congress, focusing on innovation and new developments in the seed industry, he said, “New technologies will be shared with industry representatives.”
Koh added that companies will showcase their technologies in the exhibition area and participants will have the opportunity to meet directly with company representatives.
Koh also stated that sessions addressing new technologies used in seed production will be among the important topics of the congress, saying, “Not only artificial intelligence, but other new technologies for seed production will also be included.”

Koh pointed out that Türkiye has become a significant exporter of seeds in recent years, adding that the country’s geographical location provides a significant advantage to the sector.
Emphasizing that seed production is a fundamental part of all seed logistics systems, he said, “Türkiye’s location in the middle of Asia and Europe, along with its climate and seed-growing areas, makes it an absolutely fantastic location to do this. It’s very exciting to see Türkiye developing its seed industry. Its location in the middle of Asia and Europe is particularly important.”
Koh also noted Türkiye’s significant success in the seed industry.
Türkiye, which exports seeds to 117 countries, ranks 10th in the world in seed production.
Türkiye, which exports to over 130 countries including ornamental plants, seedlings and saplings, has seen its export-to-import ratio rise from 108 percent in 2018 to 141 percent today…
