Ali Yıldız, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Marmara Olive Agricultural Sales Cooperatives Union (Marmarabirlik), announced that, having carried out a study based on the consumption habits of Middle Eastern countries, they are aiming for growth in exports to this region.

Speaking to an Anatolian Agency (AA) correspondent, Yıldız said that, in addition to new countries, they were targeting supermarket chains in existing markets for Turkish olive exports.
Expressing a desire to move beyond the ethnic market (specifically, shops catering to the Turkish and Mediterranean-origin populations living in Europe and North America), Yıldız emphasised that they wish to further strengthen their export presence in the ethnic market through supermarket chains in Europe and around the world.
Indicating that the Russian market had become a strategic priority last year, Yıldız noted, “We had established a strong presence in both premium and mass-market retail channels in that country.”
“We had developed partnerships with numerous national and local retail groups in the Russian market and that our products had secured shelf space in these stores; additionally we had gained significant momentum in terms of both volume and brand positioning and we had reached weekly sales of 6,000 units on Russia’s leading e-commerce platform.”
Referring to their successful operations in Russia, Yıldız explained, “God willing, we will have some good news soon. We will also be entering a supermarket chain with approximately 6,000–7,000 branches in the European market, one that we had not previously been able to enter.”
Highlighting their desire to establish a presence in every country in terms of exports, Yıldız added, “We want to enter every country that consumes olives and olive oil. Our primary aim from the outset has been to grow and continue to do so. We strive to ensure that our producers are fairly rewarded for their hard work.”
