GAZİANTEP…
According to information compiled by an Anatolian Agency (AA) correspondent from data provided by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM), 402,895 tonnes of sunflower oil were exported from the country between January and June 2026.
The sector generated 663,938,000 dollars in revenue from these exports, increasing its exports by 8 percent in volume and 20.1 per cent in value compared to the same period last year.
The Southeastern Anatolia Region, which accounts for a significant share of Türkiye’s sunflower oil exports, recorded exports worth 302,592,000 dollars during the same period.
The region’s exports rose by 23.1 percent compared with the same period last year.
Djibouti tops the list…
During this period, the largest volume of sunflower oil exports from Türkiye went to Djibouti, totalling 219,732,000 dollars, a rise of 26.6 percent. This was followed by Sudan, with exports worth 75,879,000 dollars, up 35.6 percent and Libya, with exports worth 55,801,000 dollars, up 26 percent.

Nihat Uysallı, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM) Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Processed Products Sector Committee, noted that uncertainties arising from the war between Russia and Ukraine in the Black Sea Basin – which is of great importance for the supply of raw materials required for sunflower oil production – persist.
Noting that the sector is currently experiencing a period in which orders from certain consumer groups have been postponed or slowed due to tensions in the Middle East, Uysallı said:
“When it comes to access to food and stock security, we see that global demand for essential items such as sunflower oil and pasta has not slowed down. Amidst the delicate balances in our immediate region, we are working to meet this demand in line with our mission to ensure food supply security. Our sunflower oil exports, which exceeded 400,000 tonnes in the first half of the year, were the most tangible demonstration of the critical supplier role we have assumed. The fact that we hold the largest market shares across a vast and challenging region, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, has once again demonstrated the Turkish food industry’s logistical and production flexibility in times of crisis.”
Mehmet Özyurt, a sunflower oil producer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nizip Chamber of Commerce, also stated that the sunflower oil sector—which contributes significant added value to Gaziantep’s exports in particular—has high growth potential…
