Tobacco exports reached 489 million dollars in the first half of 2026…

The Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association maintained its steady growth in exports, achieving 489 million dollars in exports in the first six months of 2026 – a 4 percent increase – despite uncertainties in the global economy, rising costs and fluctuations in international trade.

Selim Jimi, Chair of the Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association, stated that 2025 was a successful year for the sector despite the uncertainties in the global economy, rising costs and fluctuations in trade.

“Thanks to the hard work of our producers, the investments of our industrialists and the efforts of our exporters, the tobacco sector’s exports across the country rose by 8.4 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 1.06 billion dollars. During this period, we exported to a total of 112 countries, primarily Iraq, the United States, Belgium, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. This demonstrates that, despite all the challenges, the Turkish tobacco sector has maintained its position in global markets and continues to be in demand across various regions,” Jimi said.

“Exports rose by 4 percent in the first six months of the year”

“Looking at the breakdown of our exports, we see that exports of manufactured cigarettes amounted to 501 million dollars, leaf tobacco exports to 336 million dollars and shisha tobacco exports to 105 million dollars. This success is the result of the joint efforts of all stakeholders in our sector, from producers to manufacturers and from exporters to logistics service providers. We have also made a positive start to 2026. In the first six months of the year, our Association’s exports rose by 4 percent, increasing from 472 million dollars to 489 million dollars compared to the same period last year,“ he noted.

“This increase, achieved at a time when uncertainties in global trade and regional risks persist, demonstrates the robust structure and competitive strength of our sector,” he added…
