“Mediterranean exporters surpass 173 million dollars in cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products in April”

VEYSEL MEMİŞ: DJIBOUTI, IRAN, SAUDI ARABIA, JORDAN AND TUNISIA ARE DRIVING NEW MOMENTUM IN EXPORTS

Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), announced that they had achieved exports of 173.3 million dollars in April. Emphasising that they achieved a 29 percent spike compared to the same period last year in the fourth month of the year, AHBİB Chairman Veysel Memiş stated that they had deepened their presence in the Iraqi and Syrian markets, whilst achieving the strongest growth in the Djibouti, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Tunisia markets.

Pulses, bakery products and sugar products stand out…

Veysel Memiş, who was re-elected as the Chair with the overwhelming support of members at the 2025 Ordinary Elective General Assembly, reaffirmed his mandate. When assessing AHBİB’s export performance for April by product group, he highlighted that pulses, bakery products and sugar and sugar products stood out with their notable export figures.

Pointing out that they had converted 209,760 tonnes of goods into foreign currency in international markets during the fourth month of the year, he said, “In regional exports, pulses took the lead with a value of 52.4 million dollars and a 32 percent share.”

“Within this group, which saw an 87 percent increase, red lentils in particular accounted for 25 percent of our total exports with a value of 41.4 million dollars. Bakery products, which are among high-value-added goods, achieved a 34 percent growth with exports worth 33.7 million dollars. Exports of sugar and sugar products reached 22.4 million dollars,” he added…
