Strawberries, a value-added product within the fresh fruit category exported to around 40 countries in both fresh and frozen forms, saw a 56 percent spike in exports across Türkiye during the January–April 2026 period. Türkiye’s total strawberry exports rose to 20,871,000 dollars in the first four months.
Cengiz Balık, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated: “In the first four months of 2026, our nationwide strawberry exports soared by 56 percent to 20 million 871 thousand dollars, whilst our region’s exports rose by 50 percent to 4 million 676 thousand dollars. We export strawberries to approximately 40 countries. In 2026, we exported 6,608 tonnes of fresh strawberries. There was a 32 percent decrease in volume. Among the reasons for this decrease are strawberry prices, the fact that the crop was not as abundant as expected this year and the current attractiveness of prices in the domestic market.”
“Nevertheless, the rise in our exports demonstrates the strong position of Turkish strawberries in the international market,” he said.
“While 69 percent of our strawberry exports went to Russia, Georgia, Iraq and Malaysia followed. We aim to ramp up our fresh strawberry exports to 50 million dollars. Türkiye’s total frozen strawberry exports, meanwhile, reached 59 million dollars in the January–April 2026 period, marking a 44 percent increase, with Canada leading the way at 16 million dollars, a 100 percent rise. Germany, the US and Italy are also among the leading destinations for our frozen strawberry exports. Our region also accounted for 5 million dollars’ worth of frozen strawberry exports,” he added…
