Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association, told an Anatolian Agency (AA) correspondent that 2,739 tonnes of anchovies were exported from Türkiye in the first 10 months of the year.
Stating that 12,887,842 dollars in export revenue was generated, he said, “In the same period last year, our country exported 2,288 tonnes of anchovies, equivalent to 12,306,154 dollars. Thus, our anchovy exports soared by 20 percent in quantity and 5 percent in value compared to the same period last year.”
Gürdoğan noted that exports were made to 19 countries during this period, and that Belgium, France and Germany were the top anchovy export destinations.
Pointing out that that 3,931,390 dollars worth of anchovies were exported to Belgium between January and October, followed by France with 3,785,505 dollars and Germany with 1,794,077 dollars, he added, “Our goal is to exceed last year’s figures in terms of both quantity and value and raise anchovy exports to higher levels.”
