Olive oil exports were sustained by exports to non-producing countries!

Funds, quotas and bans led to a 28 percent decline in olive oil exports!

Türkiye has endured a challenging season for exports in the olive oil sector. The country exported 70,626 tonnes of golden liquid in the 2023/24 season, but only 50,713 tonnes in the 2024/25 season. Olive oil exports lost 28 percent in volume.

Turkish olive oil exports decreased by 28 percent in volume and due to the decline in global olive oil prices, foreign exchange earnings from exports decreased by 50 percent, from 505 million to 252 million dollars.

The olive sector, on the other hand, broke records with 255 million dollars in foreign exchange earnings from table olives in the 2024/25 season, while olive oil exports fell short of expectations at 252 million dollars, falling behind table olive exports after four seasons.

Olive oil exports hold steady in non-producing countries…

The Turkish olive oil sector’s ability to maintain its market share in non-producing countries, coupled with significant export increases in countries where it held sectoral trade delegations, was a welcome relief from a 2024/25 season of losses.

Pomace oil

Olive oil exports to non-producing countries totalled 46,670 tonnes in the 2023/24 season, while they reached 45,501 tonnes in the 2024/25 season. The loss in these countries was limited to 3 percent.

Olive oil exports to Australia, Canada and the United States, where the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association organized sectoral trade delegations, soared by 17 percent, from 21,460 tonnes to 25,202 tonnes.

Pomace exports surged by 9 percent…

The country’s pomace oil exports in the 2024/25 season surged by 9 percent, from 48 million to 52.3 million dollars. The Turkish olive sector recorded 763.5 million dollars in export revenue from olive oil, table olives and olive pomace oil exports in the 2023/24 season, but in the 2024/25 season, it brought in 559.6 million dollars in foreign currency, with a 27 percent loss…
