Exports from the Aegean Exporters’ Association (EIB) to Syria increased by 88 percent, from 15.5 million to 29 million dollars.

The Aegean Exporters’ Association participated with a seven-person team in the Syria-Damascus General Trade Delegation program, organized by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly and coordinated by the Ministry of Trade.

“Türkiye’s exports to Syria soared by 51 percent in the first half of 2025.”

Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, announced that the Turkish and Syrian governments have agreed to transform Aleppo, Syria, into a logistics hub in the coming period. He stated that they believe Türkiye’s exports to Syria will soar significantly in 2025 and beyond.

Indicating that the country’s exports to Syria soared by 51 percent in the first half of 2025, from 999 million to 1.506 billion dollars, he said, “Syria is a growth market for every sector in our industry. The end of the war in Syria will contribute to the rise not only in our exports to Syria but also to Saudi Arabia. Our overland shipments to Jordan and Saudi Arabia via Syria will also accelerate significantly. We will become more competitive in our exports to Saudi Arabia and achieve significant rises in our export figures to Saudi Arabia.”

Muhammet Öztürk

“We are the leading sector in exports to Syria.”

Muhammet Öztürk, Chair of the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association, reminded that Syria will import 1.15 billion dollars worth of grains, pulses and oilseeds in 2024 and that Turkish exporters accounted for 518 million dollars of this import.

Explaining that Syria is among their target markets due to its population of 21 million, geographical proximity and intense political relations, he noted, “As the grains, pulses and oilseeds sector, we hold a 24 percent share of Türkiye’s 2.18 billion dollars exports to Syria and we are the leading sector. We aim to maintain this leadership in the coming years and export 1 billion dollars worth of grains, pulses and oilseeds to Syria as a sector. The recent trade delegation has brought us one step closer to our goal.”
