Burcu Efe Dinçer: My journey started in Ayvalık

August 2026…

Every journey has a beginning. My journey started in Ayvalık, one of the heartlands of Turkish olive oil culture 🫒

I was born in Ayvalık, where my family’s roots run deep. I grew up among olive groves, listening to stories about the harvest, the land and the generations who cared for these trees long before me.

Well before I became a food engineer or a sensory evaluation expert, extra virgin olive oil was already part of my everyday life. It shaped the way I understand olive oil—not just as an ingredient, but as heritage, memory and connection.

Today, I share that passion through sensory education, workshops and Mediterranean experiences with people from around the world.

No matter where this path leads, it always leads me back to Ayvalık…
