The Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association (AHBİB) achieved exports worth 173.5 million dollars in July, a 13 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The association reached its highest export figures in the Iranian, Iraqi and Syrian markets during the seventh month of the year, while also notable for its high-percentage spikes in exports to Spain and Bulgaria.

AHBİB Chairman Veysel Memiş stated that they accounted for 15.3 percent of the national sector exports, which reached 1.1 billion dollars in July. Indicating that regional exporters maintained their position in traditional markets while also achieving significant gains in new markets with high growth potential, Veysel Memiş said, “In addition to our strong markets in our immediate region, the spikes we achieved in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America demonstrate the competitiveness of Turkish cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products in global markets. In the coming period, while increasing our share in existing markets, we will also focus on our efforts to reach new markets.”
“Pulses, vegetable oils and pastry products accounted for 63 percent of exports”
Veysel Memiş explained that AHBİB member exporters delivered a total of 206,411 tonnes of products to international markets in July, adding that the highest export volumes were in the pulses, vegetable oils and pastry product groups.
“In our Association’s exports based on product groups, pulses ranked first with a value of 36.3 million dollars and a 22 percent share, while vegetable oils constituted 21 percent of total exports with 35.8 million dollars. Pastry products ranked third with 32.8 million dollars in exports and a 20 percent share. Red lentil exports soared by 101 percent in quantity and 65 percent in value, reaching 26.6 million dollars. Thus, red lentils alone constituted approximately 16 percent of the Association’s total exports,” he noted.
“Sugar, other food preparations, margarine, soybean oil and its fractions and flour and meal products of oilseeds and fruits stood out with their increases in export value,” he concluded…
