Press release…

July 2026…

Our Export Target is 200 Million Dollars in the Medium Term…

Cengiz Balık, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that they are focusing not only on increasing export volume but also on markets that will ramp up the export value per kilogram.

“Japan and South Korea are of strategic importance to our sector with their high income levels, demand for quality products and search for reliable suppliers. Turkish producers and exporters have made significant progress in quality, food safety, traceability and sustainable production in recent years. We now want to leverage this experience more strongly in Far Eastern markets. We aim to ramp up our fresh fruit and vegetable and processed product exports to Japan and South Korea from 63 million dollars in 2025 to 100 million dollars in the short term and 200 million dollars in the medium term,” he said.

Two Countries Import 110 Billion Dollars Worth of Food…

Highlighting that South Korea imports 40 billion dollars and Japan imports 70 billion dollars worth of food products annually, he noted, “The high food imports of both countries present great opportunities for the Turkish food sector. They have high purchasing power and a population of approximately 175 million.”

“The Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable and processed fruit and vegetable sectors are among the strongest in the world in the production of fresh fruits and vegetables, including fruit juices, dried tomatoes, tomato paste, fruit purees, pickles, frozen fruits, preserves, citrus fruits, tomatoes, cherries, grapes, apples, peaches-nectarines and pomegranates. We are the world’s food granary. We are working to increase our market share in fresh and processed product exports through sectoral trade delegations. We invite Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable and processed fruit and vegetable exporters to participate in our sectoral trade delegation,” he added…
