WILD OLIVE TREES ARE BROUGHT TO THE ECONOMY…

The project carried out by Yudum Egemden and the Seed Association in order to bring wild olive trees known as “delice” (Wild – Olea oleaster) into the economy has entered its second year. The trees vaccinated in Kuşadası district of Aydın province were adopted by farmers.

The olive tree that grows spontaneously in nature is called wild olive or delice (oleaster). Delice is transformed into a cultivated plant by grafting and breeding and made productive. It is estimated that grafting the existing wild trees in Türkiye and bringing them into the economy will contribute at least 60 million dollars to farmers and the country.

Thousands of wild (delice) trees were grafted and made available to farmers…

The Project of Grafting Delice Olive Trees into the Economy and Supporting Farmers, which was initiated by Yudum Egemden and Seed Association to bring wild olive trees known as delice into the economy and for the use of farmers, was first implemented in Aegean province of Manisa. Yudum Egemden and Seed Association will continue the project in different regions of Türkiye where olives are grown in the coming years.

The trees grafted in Aydın Kuşadası Kirazlı Village within the scope of the project were given to the farmers through the Agricultural Development Cooperatives established in the villages benefiting from the project at a ceremony hosted by Musa Kaya, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Seed Association and Houmer Balazadeh, General Manager of Savola Food (Gıda) Türkiye.
