Protocol signed for the establishment of West Antalya Tropical Fruit Production and Dissemination Center in cooperation with the Western Mediterranean Development Agency (BAKA), Kumluca Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Akdeniz University operating in the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology in Kumluca district of Antalya province, which is one of the most important greenhouse vegetable production centres in Turkey.
Stating that the centre, which will provide great advantages, will add a new excitement to the farmers, BAKA Secretary General Volkan Güler said:
“When the project is completed, it is aimed to replace Western Antalya’s agricultural crop varieties with tropical fruits with high added value from products that have a relatively low competitive advantage in world markets. It is aimed to expand the pattern with plants such as ‘pitaya, passiflora, guava, papaya, plantain’.
“In the future, new tropical crops such as ‘longan, litchi, mango, carambola, cherimoya, black sapote, mamey sapote, sapodilla’ will be introduced to the region. The need for seedlings for the species to be introduced will be met by multiplying the seedlings supplied within the scope of the project,” Volkan Güler added…
