Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı pointed to opportunists in the increase in meat prices in Central Anatolian province of Kırşehir’s TİGEM (General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises) Malya Enterprise.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made statements regarding the hike in meat prices.
“The Competition Authority announced yesterday. Sector stakeholders announced. There is no aspect of these that can be explained by any hike in cost or the scarcity or abundance of production. The name of this is opportunism. It is pre-Ramadan opportunism,” Yumaklı said.
Noting that it means that opportunists obtain an income that they do not deserve from consumers, from the pockets of the people of this country, Yumaklı explained, “We will continue our struggle. We will produce, we will produce more. From the moment our livestock road map was announced, we were very pleased to know that there are really very good returns from the sector and that there are producers who say that they are encouraged by this.”
“We will enhance the efficiency of cattle breeding. We will also enhance both yield and quality in ovine breeding. We have a very serious plan and programme to fight against animal diseases. Here, we, as the Ministry, will cover both the smallpox vaccine and the vaccines related to sheep and goat plague to be made for ovine animals,” Yumaklı added…
