According to the data of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB), the United States of America increased its dried fig imports from 35 million 324 thousand dollars in the 2021/22 season to 43 million 102 thousand dollars in the 2022/23 season with an increase of 22 percent and maintained its leadership in Türkiye’s dried fig exports.
Reminding that Türkiye’s dried fig exports to the USA were at the level of 11 million dollars 10 years ago, Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters Association, said that they have achieved a 4-fold spike in dried fig exports with the food fairs they participated in the US market in the past period, the TURQUALITY and URGE Projects they continued, and that the USA has risen from fourth place to first place in the country’s dried fig exports.
France, one of Türkiye’s traditional markets in dried fig exports, became the second country with a demand for figs worth 30 million dollars, while Germany entered the list from the third place with an export of 29 million dollars.
Dried fig exports to the People’s Republic of China soared by 136 per cent from 4.3 million dollars to 10.2 dollars million, while exports to Saudi Arabia hiked by 1811 per cent from 114,000 dollars to 2.2 million dollars.
15 million dollars worth of dried figs exported with the first ship…
In dried figs, the 2023/24 season started on 6 October 2023. While 3 thousand 27 tonnes of dried figs were loaded on the first ship, the foreign currency equivalent was 15 million 410 thousand dollars. While 3.6 million dollars of the first exported dried figs went to France, 2.5 million dollars of dried figs were shipped to Germany and 2 million dollars to Italy…
