Türkiye is running from success to success in fishery exports. The aquaculture sector, one of the star sectors of exports, added a new ring to its success in the January-October period of 2023.
Aegean’s share in aquaculture exports is 68 per cent
Türkiye’s aquaculture exports surged by 6 percent in the January-October period of 2023, from 1 billion 321 million to 1 billion 404 million dollars. A total of 947 million dollars of the country’s aquaculture exports were carried out by members of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association. The Aegean Region had a 68 per cent share in aquaculture exports.
While sea bass maintained its place at the top with an amount of 435 million dollars in aquaculture exports, Türkiye earned 353 million dollars in foreign currency income from sea bream exports. Exports of Turkish salmon, which has become a star in recent years, soared by 9 per cent from 289 million to 315 million dollars, while trout exports rose by 9 per cent from 88 million to 96 million dollars.
