Turkish salmon exports surge by 24 percent…

Turkish salmon exports from the Eastern Black Sea region in the January-February period surged by 24 percent and reached 19 million 45 thousand 787 dollars.

Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), said that 3 thousand 778 tonnes of Turkish salmon were exported to 11 countries from the region.

Stating that 19 million 45 thousand 787 dollars of income was obtained from these exports, Gürdoğan stated that the exports increased by 74 percent in quantity and 24 percent in value compared to the same period of last year, when 2 thousand 171 tonnes of exports earned 15 million 411 thousand 2 dollars.

Emphasizing that the Russian Federation took the lead in the exports of the region, Gürdoğan said, “Turkish salmon has been sold to 11 countries in 2 months of the year from our region. With an export share of 11 million 41 thousand 202 dollars, the Russian Federation ranked first. The Russian Federation was followed by Vietnam with 5 million 201 thousand 837 dollars and Japan with 2 million 51 thousand 191 dollars.”
