TURKISH CITRUS EXPORTS ROSE BY 450 PERCENT TO ITALY…

Turkey’s citrus export products to Italy showed an increase of 450 percent in the first nine months of 2020 in terms of amount compared to the same period last year, while the value recorded 595 percent increase.

According to the information compiled by AA (Anadolu Agency) correspondent from the data of Mediterranean Exporters’ Associations (AKIB), 728 thousand tons of citrus fruits were exported in the January-September period of this year and 374 million dollars in foreign currency input was obtained.

The increase in citrus exports to Italy drew attention. Citrus exports to Italy boosted from 1067 tons to 5,871 tons in 9 months compared to the same period last year. The revenue obtained soared from 580 thousand dollars to 4 million dollars.

Exports to this country in 9 months of the year increased by 450 percent in amount and 595 percent in value compared to the same period last year.

“The highest increase seen in Italy”

Kemal Kaçmaz, Chairman of the National Citrus Council (UNK), told the AA correspondent that the rise in citrus exports continues despite the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

Pointing out that Covid-19 has increased the interest in citrus products, Kaçmaz said, “The importance of the agricultural sector has been understood once again in our country as in the whole world.”

“Accordingly, a rise in the consumption of agricultural production and products has been observed. Due to the vitamin content, there is an escalation in both domestic consumption and exports,” Kaçmaz added…
