The ICCI 2021 Conference, which aims to discuss MACRO strategies and guide the sector, was held digitally by the energy platform ICCI and the Turkish Cogeneration Association.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez attended the conference as a speaker, Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Industry, Commerce, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Committee Ziya Altunyaldız, Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) Chairman Mustafa Yılmaz, Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Chairman İsmail Gülle and Yavuz Aydın, Chairman of the Turkish Cogeneration Association, also attended.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez stated that Turkey ranks 12th in the world and 5th in Europe with its current renewable energy installed capacity and said, “We believe that we will also be a pioneer and model country in solar energy and wind energy. This is the most important part of our belief. As an indicator, we stepped on the gas all the way in our solar and wind energy investments. ”
Dönmez noted that Turkey’s installed electricity capacity has reached 98,493 megawatts and the rate of renewable energy in the total installed capacity has reached 53 percent. Indicating that Turkey’s wind energy installed power, which was 19 megawatts in 2002, has exceeded 10 thousand megawatts, Dönmez said that solar energy capacity has reached 7 thousand 435 megawatts.
Emphasizing that he attaches great importance to the efforts to increase renewable energy investments, Dönmez called on industrialists to make cogeneration investments in order to reduce costs in facilities that consume intense energy.
