TURKEY EXPORTS DRIED APRICOTS TO 90 COUNTRIES…

Turkey has made a successful entry into dried apricots 2020-21 season. In the first quarter of the 2020-21 season, Turkey’s dried apricot exports dropped by 13.47 percent on the amount basis, but showed a 8.3 percent increase in foreign exchange basis.

The first quarter of the 2020/21 season in dried apricots, one of Turkey’s traditional export products, left behind. According to the data of Aegean Exporters’ Associations; Turkey obtained 82 million 291 thousand dollars of foreign exchange earnings while exporting 25 thousand 342 tons of dried apricots.

Turkey’s dried apricot exports between 1 August – 31 October 2019 were 29 thousand 829 tons worth of 75 million 974 thousand dollars.

Exported for an average of 2 thousand 765 dollars in the 2019/20 season, dried apricots found buyers in 90 countries for an average of 3 thousand 410 dollars in 2020/21 season. Turkish apricots were exported 23 percent more value added on dollar basis.

Stating that the dry apricot harvest for 2020 has been announced as 85 thousand tons by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Chairman of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association Birol Celep noted, “Low dried apricot harvest compared to the previous years paved the way for the increase of export price.”

Dried apricot strengthens the immune system in the body…

Drawing attention to the trend towards foods that strengthen the immune system in the body due to the pandemic, Celep added, “Dried apricot is on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) list of foods that strengthen the immune system. Therefore, the demand for dried apricots brought a price increase of 23.3 percent on dollar basis. In the coming period, the export price of dried apricots may rise a little more.”
