2 million dollars of exports in one year…
In Gümüşhane, which has no seaside coast, trout grown in dam lakes are exported to countries such as Russia, China, Chile and Japan.
“We exported 2 million dollars in 2023”
15 years of fish production in the region and Torul Dam Lake is very favourable for fish production, Fisheries Technology Engineer Ramazan Çolak said, “These trout come to us as fry around 2 grams. We breed them here until they reach 500 grams or 1 kilogram weight. Then we bring them to the Black Sea. Here, when they reach about 3-5 kilograms, they are exported abroad. These fish are exported fresh, filleted with advanced processing technology.”
“We export mainly to Russia, Japan, Chile and China, which will be intense this year. We do not have a sea in Gümüşhane, but we produce fish. Patented Black Sea Turkish salmon exports were around 1 million dollars in 2022. In 2023, exports were around 2 million dollars. In these farms, we produce 99 per cent natural fish with the fierceness, nature and clean water of the Black Sea. Torul Dam is also very suitable for trout and salmon because it is clean and clear at this point,” he added…
