A total of 8 thousand Mediterranean Fruit Fly traps were distributed to producers within the scope of the ‘Project for the Dissemination of Biotechnical Control Against Mediterranean Fruit Fly’ and ‘Good Agricultural Practices Project’ carried out in cooperation with the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSİB) and Izmir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.

Izmir Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Özen said that 3-4 months ago, drought was on their agenda and they were talking about global warming.
“We are now having an abundant season after good rains. Biotechnical and biological control and Good Agricultural Practices are the basis of organic and residue-free production. We should not fight all pests with pesticides immediately. Our Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association distributed 2,500 Mediterranean Fruit Fly traps last week and 2,500 today. We endeavour to support all farmers to grow healthy products with a total of 8,000 traps by distributing 3,000 Mediterranean Fruit Fly traps by our Ministry. Include your agricultural products in Agricultural Insurance (TARSIM) against natural disasters and get state insurance.”
“As of 2024, we are switching to a new agricultural planning and production planning model. 50 thousand farmers registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS) benefit from agricultural supports.
