THE GIANTS OF DRIED FRUIT INDUSTRY TO MEET IN LONDON!

The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC), the highest consultation platform for dried fruits and nuts around the world, will be held in London on May 22-24 for the 40th time this year.

Emphasizing that the INC Congress is the only international event related to the dried fruit industry, Ahmet Bilge Göksan, the Turkish Ambassador of the International Dry and Nuts Council (INC), said that Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) has been participating in INC Congresses for many years, representing our country and our industry.

“Türkiye is the world’s main production centre for many products such as hazelnuts, figs, apricots and grapes. We export to more than 150 countries around the world. The INC Congress will bring together 1,300 leading names in the dried and shelled fruit industry from 60 different countries for three days this year in London. The United Kingdom is the 15th largest consumer of nuts in the world, with a domestic consumption of 75,000 tonnes,” Göksan said.

“The most consumed nuts are; cashews (30%), almonds (26%), walnuts (15%), hazelnuts (13%) and pistachios (6%). In the last 10 years, nut consumption has increased by 5 percent per year. It is the eighth consumer country in the world in dry fruit consumption with 92 thousand 600 tons. It is the second market to which we export the most after Germany. We export 154 million dollars of dried fruit annually to the United Kingdom. We will also review the latest statistics on yield forecasts, supply, demand and trade for products across the entire dried fruit industry,” Göksan added..

“The main agenda is sustainability and climate change”

Pointing out that as EIB, which realizes 75 percent of Türkiye’s organic product exports, they are the pioneer in sustainability among exporter associations in the country, Göksan explained, “At the Sustainability Seminar at the INC Congress, sustainable supply chain management will be discussed with the participation of academics from the world’s most important universities such as Cambridge University and the new INC Sustainability Project to boost forest wealth will be introduced. In the Nutrition Research Seminar, the health benefits of dried fruits, which have become one of the rising trends in the world with the change in consumption habits, will be discussed too. At the same time, the importance of identifying young talents will be focused on with the participation of many top names from the world press such as the Financial Times. Awards in the Innovation Award and Sustainability categories will also be presented to the leaders of the sector.”

To the International Dry and Nuts Council (INC); INC Türkiye Ambassador Ahmet Bilge Göksan, INC Board of Trustees Member Osman Öz, Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM) Board Member Birol Celep and Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association Board members will attend the Congress under the chairmanship of Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association.
