TAKING FIRM STEPS TO THE TARGET OF 1 BILLION DOLLARS…

“We will reach the 1 billion dollar export target together with our producers”

While the production and export figures in many sectors declined during the pandemic period, Aegean exporters of fresh fruits, vegetables and products increased their exports by 17 percent in the January – July period of 2020, to 527 million dollars.

Hayrettin Uçak, Chairman of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, continued production despite all kinds of difficulties during the pandemic period and went on a tour of appreciation to producers and exporters who made a great contribution to the export record in the fresh fruit and vegetable and products sector.

Hayrettin Uçak, Murat Ödül, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Martin Sanford, Member of the Board, visited producers and exporters in Torbalı and Kiraz districts of İzmir province, which are important centres in the production of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Pointing out that fresh fruit, vegetable along with fruit and vegetable products serve as an antidote to covid-19, Uçak stated, “Producers who continue to produce fruit, vegetable and fruit and vegetable products deserve all kinds of appreciation.”

Explaining that Turkey’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports in January – July period rose by 24.4 percent to 1 billion 364 million dollars from to 1 billion 96 million dollars, Uçak added,

“Our exports of fruit and vegetable products increased by 6 percent from 853 million dollars to 902 million dollars. In 2020, as the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, our fresh fruit and vegetable exports increased by 44 percent from 121 million to 175 million dollars. Our exports of fruits and vegetables products increased by 7 percent from 329 million dollars to 352 million dollars.”

Uçak cocluded his words as follows; “Our exports have risen to 527 million dollars in the January – July period of 2020 and to 966 million dollars in the last 1 year. We are taking firm steps towards our target of 1 billion dollars for 2020. Maintaining sustainability in our exports is possible with the satisfaction of our producers. We will work towards this goal.”
