The Seedless Table Sultana Grape, which decorated the tables of the Sultans in Ottoman Palaces, became the star of exports. Sultana grapes brought in 37 million 419 million dollars in 1-month period starting from 8th of August.
The export of fresh sultani grapes was 30 million 701 thousand dollars in the same period of 2019. It increased by 22 percent compared to the last season.
According to the data of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, the Russian Federation was at the top of the seedless table sultana grapes exports with an amount of 19 million 142 thousand dollars. Turkish exporters had exported 14 million 756 thousand dollars of seedless sultana grapes to the Russian Federation in the same period of 2019. Export growth to Russia climbed to 30 percent.
Stating that Turkey’s fresh grape exports provided 150 million dollars as a foreign exchange revenue in 2019, Hayrettin Uçak, Chairman of Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, said, “Seedless sultana grapes, as the world’s most preferred variety that has a share with 92 million dollars. We will work to reach our fresh grape export target of 180 million dollars in 2020 and 110 million dollars in the export of sultana seedless grapes.”
Turkey made an export to 44 countries after the date of August 8, 2020. While Russia was the country with the highest exports with an amount of 19 million 142 thousand dollars, Ukraine ranked second with 4 million 551 thousand dollars. Germany and Poland also preferred 3 million dollars worth of fresh sultana grapes.
