Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Professor Dr. Vahit Kirişci emphasized that cereals, oil seeds and sugar beet are indispensable products and said that these products will be focused in agriculture.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Vahit Kirişci, made a statement after the Agricultural Coordination Meeting held in Adana Governorate, which was closed to the media, referring to the Russia-Ukraine War and noted that neither country could be preferred to the other.

Pointing out that Russia and Ukraine are neighbouring countries to Turkiye in the Black Sea, Dr. Kirişci said, “There are countries with which we have foreign trade relations in a very serious sense, but there are steps we need to take in order to manage this process well and turn this process into an opportunity as a country.”
Stressing the importance of the agricultural sector for Turkiye, Dr. Kirişci said, “Agriculture is a strategic and indispensable sector.”
“We all need to remember the definition of strategic product”
Stating that strategic crops will be focused on in agriculture, Minister Kirişci explained, “We should all remember the definition of strategic product. These are flour, oil and sugar. Grain, oilseeds and sugar beet, from which these are obtained and which are the main ingredients. These are very indispensable and vital products for us. Moreover, these products are also useful for the feed industry. It is also important.”
“We also make use of their meat, milk and eggs by feeding the fodder to these animals. Therefore, we will focus on these products and highlight them. We will not neglect our other products, we will support them as well. Agriculture is not primarily an activity to feed the people of another country. First, we will feed our own people. We will meet the needs of our people for food, shelter and clothing,” he added…
