Fishery exports reached 1.7 billion dollars in 2023…

The exports of the Fisheries and Animal Products Sector reached 3.5 billion dollars in 2023. The fishery sector was the locomotive with exports of 1.7 billion dollars.

Sinan Kızıltan, Head of the Turkish Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Associations Sector Board, said that as the fishery sector, they are one of the first sectors to achieve our 2023 export target.

“In 2023, our sea bass exports increased by 2 percent to 517 million dollars, our sea bream exports increased by 12 percent to 418 million dollars, while the Omega-3 store Turkish salmon increased by 9 percent to 376 million dollars. Our trout exports increased by 12 per cent to 112 million dollars and tuna exports reached 51 million dollars. We export to 92 countries and 42 per cent of this is to EU countries,” he said.

“In 2023, we exported 325 million dollars to Russia, 188 million dollars to Italy, 156 million dollars to the United Kingdom, 149 million dollars to the Netherlands, 118 million dollars to Greece. 67 per cent of Türkiye’s fishery exports are carried out by Aegean exporters. We left 2023 behind with 1 billion 127 million dollars of fishery exports in the Aegean Region,” he added.

The fishery sector was the only product group among the food products within the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) that exceeded the 1 billion dollar threshold…
