Serpil Günal, General Manager and Member of the Board of Directors of the Insurance of Agriculture (TARSİM), said that the last year’s disasters such as fire, flood, drought and earthquake, which increased their severity with the effect of climate change, have passed in the shadow of the epidemic.
“In 2021, 2.4 billion TL damage payment was made to producers and breeders”
Serpil Günal stated that the TARSİM system continued its steady growth in 2021, as in previous years and said, “Around 2.5 million policies were produced in all agricultural insurance branches in Turkey and agricultural assets worth 124 billion TL were insured. Besides, loss payment of 2.4 billion TL was made to producers and breeders who were damaged due to various reasons.”
Noting that since the establishment of the system, 9.8 billion TL of claim payments have been made so far, Günal reminded that 550 thousand claims have been received for various reasons in all agricultural insurance branches and nearly 2,000 TARSİM adjusters (experts) have been involved in risk examination, damage and yield determination processes.
