SEBAHATTIN ARSLANTURK: WE NEED POLICIES THAT WILL ENSURE SUSTAINABILITY IN HAZELNUT EXPORTS

In the first two months of the 2023/2024 hazelnut export season, which started on 1 September 2023; hazelnut exports from türkiye reached 54 thousand 78 tonnes and 356 million 918 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided in return.

Sebahattin Arslantürk, Vice President of the Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), who made evaluations on the subject, said that the export of 356 million 918 thousand dollars with an increase of 14 percent in the first two months of the new season compared to the same period last year and the export of 97 countries from the country in the first two months of the export season is a good development for the sector and also stated that the first 3 countries with the highest exports are Germany, Italy and France, which are Türkiye’s traditional export markets.

Arslantürk, who also gave information about hazelnut exports on an annual basis, said, “Hazelnut exports made in the 10-month period of 2023 on an annual basis was 222 thousand 913 tonnes and 1 billion 414 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided in return.”

“In this framework, hazelnut exports from Trabzon province, 12 thousand 667 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from this region in the first two months of the hazelnut export season and 82 million 11 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was obtained in return and on an annual basis, 70 thousand 677 tonnes of 445 million 12 thousand dollars of exports were made in the 10-month period of the year and approximately 31 percent of the total hazelnut exports were carried out from Trabzon,” Arslantürk added…
